Segments help you categorize reservations based on attributes relevant to your operations so you can identify trends and refine your customer targeting strategies. Mews assigns segments to new reservations automatically based on how you set up your default segments. You can also allow your employees to choose a segment when creating reservations in Mews Operations. Mews prioritizes the manually selected segment over the default ones in such instances.
When a new reservation qualifies for multiple segments, Mews assigns a segment based on the following priority, if available:
- The Travel agency segment,
- Channel manager or booking engine segment from your service settings,
- The segment you assigned to the selected rate, or
- The service’s default segment.
Note: Mews prioritizes Travel agency segments only if you create the reservation via Channel manager. If you create it through the booking engine or the new reservation screen, Mews applies the segments in the order 2-4 from the list above.
