Note
- Property context is currently in Open Beta for properties with the Advanced Guest Experience. The feature is opt-in. Contact your Customer Success manager to enable it for your property.
Smart Tasks uses reservation and guest data from your property management system to generate action-oriented suggestions for your team. However, your property also operates according to rules, policies, and priorities that exist only in your staff's heads: services you don't offer, how you handle loyalty upgrades, what counts as urgent for your operation. Property Context configuration is where you teach the agent those rules, in your own words, so that its suggestions reflect how your property actually works. You configure Property Context once during initial setup and update it whenever your operational rules change.
In this article you can learn about:
Prerequisites
Property Context is available as part of the Smart Tasks open beta. Before you configure rules, confirm the following:
- You have identified the operational rules most likely to affect suggestion quality, for example, services your property does not offer, time restrictions on certain offerings, billing or payment policies, or how you define urgency for your team.
Note: Rules you configure apply only to your property. They are not shared with or visible to any other property in Mews.
Step 1: Add a property context rule
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu
> Settings > Property > Property rules.
- Under Describe a rule, enter the new rule in your own words. Be as specific as possible, for example, "We do not offer late checkout on Saturdays during peak season" or "Room upgrades are only available to guests who have stayed with us three or more times."
- Click Generate rules.
- Under Proposed rules, review the suggested rules, then:
- If the rule is correct, click Create to add it.
- If the rule is not correct, click Edit and adjust the text, then click Generate rule again to produce a revised version. Click Create once the rule is correct.
- Repeat steps 2 through 4 for each additional rule you want to add.
This adds a property context rule. A rule only becomes active after you click Create, until then it does not affect agent suggestions.
Step 2: Resolve a conflict between rules
If a rule you add conflicts with or duplicates an existing rule, the system surfaces the conflict before saving. It does not overwrite your existing configuration.
- Review the conflict summary the system presents. It shows you both the new rule and the existing rule it conflicts with.
- Choose one of the following actions:
- Keep the existing rule and discard the new input.
- Replace the existing rule with the new one.
- Edit the new rule to remove the overlap, then confirm it alongside the existing rule.
- Click Confirm to apply your chosen resolution.
This configures property context in Mews Operations. You can edit or remove an existing rule at any time, click Edit or Delete to do so. Modifications and deletions take immediate effect.
Once you confirm your property context rules, the system uses them as the foundation for every Smart Task it generates.
