The staff mode in the Mews Kiosk is for your employee use only and not for your guests to use for self-check in. You can use this mode to add a personal touch to your check ins as well as to manage long lines at your reception.

How to switch between modes 

To switch to the staff mode: 

  1. On your Mews Kiosk, tap and hold on your property’s name for five seconds.

  1. Find the Kiosk PIN for the device and enter it.

  2. Click Confirm. 

 

To switch back to guest mode, you don’t need the PIN. 

  1. Click Switch to guest mode. 

  2. Click Switch to confirm.

Note: You can disable the staff mode feature in the Kiosk configuration page. 

 

Important features of the staff mode 

Arrival list 

  • When you switch a tablet to staff mode, it displays a list of all upcoming arrivals for the day. 
  • You can browse the list or use the search field to find specific guests.

Easy check ins 

  • Fill in a guest’s details manually. 
  • Guests can then sign right on the tablet using their fingertip or a stylus. 

 

ID scan

  • Scan your guest’s ID document to automatically fill in the check in form.

Note: The ID scanner supports passports, ID cards and driver’s licenses. 

Verification photo

  • Take a photo of your guest to confirm their identity.

Mews Operations access 

  • If you install a web browser on the device, you can directly open reservations in Mews Operations.
