Connecting door lock systems to Mews FAQs

A door lock system integration lets your front desk and housekeeping staff automatically create guest keycards and manage room access directly from Mews, without switching between separate software. Property managers and front desk agents set this up once in Mews Operations so that every reservation benefits from easy, automated access control from check in through to check out. Connecting a door lock system reduces manual keycard errors, speeds up the check-in process, and gives your team a single place to manage guest stays from start to finish.

In this article you can learn about:

Why should I connect a door lock system to Mews?

When you connect a door lock system to Mews, your team can encode keycards and manage room access from within the reservation detail page. This means:

  • The system automatically encodes keycards when a guest checks in, with no need to open separate lock software.
  • Access permissions update in real time when you or a guest modify, extend or cancel a reservation.

Your team spends less time on manual processes and more time on guest experience.

Note: If you do not connect a door lock system to your property, Mews displays a prompt on the reservation detail page in Mews Operations. Connecting a provider removes this prompt and activates the keycard encoding workflow.

How do the door lock systems work in Mews?

Once you connect a door lock system:

  1. The system enables the Create keys button on the reservation detail page.
  2. You can click it to encode a key directly from the reservation.
